Game & Level Design

I am multidisciplinary level designer with a focus in narrative, through practices like worldbuilding, character writing, and environmental design/storytelling.

My main design skills are focused in narrative, level, and environmental design, with fundamental understanding of game engines, like Unreal 4 and Unity, and general design practices. Combining stories and narrative into interesting environments to create fun and memorable gameplay spaces is what I do best! I also have 5+ years of TTRPG campaign writing/design experience, specifically with D&D 5e modules, which can be found under Individual Works.

My experiences in game design come from my experiences at university and through independent projects.

I graduated early from High Point University for my Bachelor's in 2019, attended Southern Methodist University's Guildhall from Fall 2020 to late Spring 2021, but left there to complete my graduate degree pursuits at Abertay University, Dundee, Scotland for the 2021 to 2022 graduate school year.

During undergrad, the foundational work I learned was in Unreal 4, and was the beginning of my journey with the engine, which I grew to love! At Guildhall, I chose my specialization as a level designer, and there first learned how to us Unity. I worked on two major games projects, Eury's Song and also Snowpainters.

At Abertay, I continued my practice in level design, with a focus on more team based work, including more opportunities to work with my peers outside of class on game jams. In total, I've added 5 separate projects from my time in Scotland, which can be viewed under the Game Jams page, and the recent projects under Team-Based Work.

Throughout my education, I've touched on several types of games and styles. I've done designs within proprietary engines like the Portal 2 kit and Creation Kit-Fallout 4, 2D platformers, open world, and much more.

Career History

My career history is currently only occupied by previous retail work or other customer service related jobs. These jobs taught me a lot about teamwork in a professional setting, and introduced me to some different work habits and ethics that I can apply to my industry of choice. I've had to learn new software, how to work with and provide service to all kinds of people, and in general how to work in demanding conditions.

Jan. 2020 - Aug. 2020

Player's Club Representative

My role functioned within the Marketing department of the Saganing Eagles Landing Casino & Hotel, located in Standish, MI. I worked with customers concerning their player's club accounts and finances, which required considerable knowledge of technical computer skills using special software designed to handle the significant amount of funds. My department also conducted promotional events for the casino, such as competitions, games, and gift-giving days for valued patrons.

Aug. 2019 to Dec. 2019

Facility Manager

As a student Facility Manager for the High Point University arcade, my job involved access and monitoring of the larger building the arcade was located in. I took care of the facility assistants, helped run the adjacent movie theater, and both opened and closed the arcade. Due to the variety of things I had to cover, it was a significant entrustment from my employer, as I had access to finances, valuable hardware and software, and other sensitive security matters.

May 2019 - Aug. 2019

Cashier

I worked as a part-time cashier at Northwoods Wholesale Outlet, where I handled a manual input register, labeled and restocked inventory, did janitorial duties, and overall customer service in an extremely fast-paced, demanding environment.
